Optophobia
… the fear of opening one’s eyes…
Enjoying Optophobia for the first time in its entirety… songs with an underlining concept dealing with the fear of opening one’s eyes and what might be in the imagined place behind… a play on industrializing the Bristol sound within my usual electronic/acoustic styling… full registers float adrift darkly lit atmospheres… minimalistic approaches on top of beating rhythms… montage sequences and underscoring motions. Writing this album on and off during the summer of aught ten has produced some of my favourite pieces out of RDP’s entire body of work… discover your favourites:

Things with the grunge-rock band, Thrown to the Wolves have been moving nowhere quickly… our drummer is in recovery and unable to perform, let alone rehearse… but plans are still on for recording a few new tunes… exactly when they’ll be released may be some months away. Yet work on the new Razbaque Dirge Project album went smoothly enough… now plans for a best-of album is underway, with an October 31st release date… and all the while, Sydiot continues building the framework for their upcoming second release. I really dig the freedoms of writing when inspiration comes and chillin’ in between. Sitting down and placing the first note… letting the second come into focus on its own… not forcing the process or burning the muse… aside from the heatwave, it’s been quite the enjoyable summer… a recreation from the coming explosion of music this fall. I hope you enjoy this latest creation.

Feeling
One of my moments …
Today I’m feeling kind of angry
not knowing when this feeling will come over
makes me kind of edgy
like wanting to clean house
start anew
leave behind faulty perceptions
of comfort and humility
so you say “Take it easy, be rational”
I say to hell with rational
even the great professor
said “God ain’t got nothing to do with creation”
Yeah Stephen, so you changed your perception
and now I’m just another contradiction
did you lose your diction
or was it just some new found exorcism
I see a schism in my destiny
going to wrap my future
in industrial waste
call it marketing genius
and purge my generation
pre-hashed poison
controlled experiments
so where is the feeling did you ask?
I gotta tell you
I don’t really know
I can’t even remember how I got this far
so keep your viscous attitude
and leave my inner personal space
Buck tall
Revolution is brewing
our time is ready for a fall
only one question remains
who will be left
standing out there
under that nuclear rain

Anything you guys think i should do?
….other than finish the ones i haven’t yet
I’m just wondering if there’s any song or anything where you’d think, “Yeah, he’d do a good job with that.” I don’t know…i’ll keep doing what i do, i was just wondering if you guys had anything to say.
Comment
Come see.
500 amazing songs here on iComps where my listen simply could not go without comment. Some of these comments were just as importantly inspired by blog reads and it goes without saying that there is a massive wealth of talent here.
I am shy and for me to make an expression 500 times in 6 months is very opposite from my beat around the bush eventually, maybe dare-fully make a comment with hopes not to offend anyone routine.
And, if I have ever left a comment that sat sour with anyone here, then I apologize for my intentions are not to do so; I have been in trouble in the past with emails at work that could not convey proper expression generating misinterpretation, leading to phone calls. Vocal tones and real voice conversations always tend to clear up most misunderstandings.
I myself have enjoyed reading each and every comment I have received so far and even though my mysterious ways sometimes lead to the vanishing of my song, please know that your time and comment were and are always very important to me.
Cheers, to everyone here

News Flash: End Of Tonic Dominant Relationship
The Tonic Dominant relationship relied upon in musical compositions from folk songs to symphonies for the entire common practice period appears to be over.
“They have not been seen together for some time now”, sources say, ” they have been mostly living apart.”
Experts can’t agree on the cause but some suspect the atonal music of the early mid 20th century being the beginning of the end. Who could have predicted this direction of musical culture in the doo wop years of the 1950’s, or the melodic disco and rock songs of the 70’s, even the grunge culture paid obtuse reference to some sort of tonal tendency but soon after, without having the intervalic reinforcements in their ears, the next generation of musical audience that came along heard music differently–not even through the air.
One enterprising reporter managed to get some exclusive shots of the poor little modes after they got the news of their diatonic parents’ split. They were seen leaning on each other, Aeolian being the saddest, flanked by Dorian while Ionian and Mixolydian had strange looks of lost recognition on their faces. Phrygian was packing bags and muttering about going back to the East. Lydian made his way over, doing his best to flat his seven in imitation of Locrian, who alone looked confident of his future, mind you he’d been up all night in some dive jamming til the daylight hours and was looking pretty altered. He was sporting a skin tight comic book style body suit and had taken the name “Super Locrian”.
